Description

The Sturmgeschütz III (abbreviated Stug III) was a German self-propelled gun used in World War II as an assault gun (to provide cover for infantry) and in its later versions as a tank destroyer.

The Stug III Ausf G (designed by the Alkett company) used the chassis of the Panzer III Ausf M, on which a fixed superstructure and the 75 mm StuK L/48 gun were mounted. The G model was the most prolific of this vehicle, 7,900 units were built between the spring of 1943 and the end of the conflict in May 1945.
