The French 75 mm cannon was the most representative artillery piece of this country during the First World War. It was developed in 1897 and was intended as a rapid-fire artillery piece that could contain the assault of enemy troops in the open field.
The 75, as it was commonly called by French soldiers, is considered one of the first pieces of modern artillery, its recoil system and absorption of the energy of the shot, meant that it did not move from its place and it was not necessary to aim after each shot, which saved time and improved the effectiveness of the weapon.
