Japanese battleship Musashi Tamiya-31114

Description

The Musashi was a Japanese battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Built by Mitsubishi, it was probably the most powerful ship of World War II.

First assigned on August 5, 1942, it was finally sunk on October 24, 1944 during the battle of the Sibuyan Sea and after enduring a heavy bombardment of 19 torpedoes and 17 bombs.

It remained lost at sea until March 2015, when American billionaire Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft with Bill Gates, and his team of researchers aboard the research yacht Octopus discovered part of the ship.
