The 75mm PAK (PanzerAbwehrKanone) was one of the most used anti-armor weapons by the German army during World War II.
In the summer of 1941, during operation Barbarossa (the invasion of the USSR by Nazi Germany) the Germans were unpleasantly surprised that their light anti-tank weapons (PAK 36 and PAK 38) with smaller caliber and shorter guns were not able to penetrate the armor of Soviet heavy tanks (KV1 or KV2), so they were forced to introduce more effective weapons and among them is the one represented in this 1/35 Tamiya kit.
The PAK 40 was armed with a 75 mm cannon, L46, weighed 1,500 kg and had an effective range of more than 1,500 meters.
The Spanish Army acquired several units of 75 mm PAK 40 during the 4th century, these weapons were in service until the 70’s of the last century.
