Description

The history of the M10 Achilles is to some extent comparable to that of the Sherman M4 firefly.

The British needed to reinforce their armored forces with tanks produced in the United States, so they requested the shipment of Sherman M4 and M10 Destroyer, however, although both tanks proved effective in combat against the German medium tanks Panzer III and Panzer IV were not effective enough against the Tiger or Panther, because of this, the British modified both models adapting them to their powerful 17 pound (76.2mm) gun.

The M10 Achilles had a maximum turret armor of 89mm, mounted a 375 hp General Motors 6046 engine, which allowed it to reach an engine speed of maximum highway speed of 50 km/h, the main weapon was a 17-pound (76.2mm) cannon and the secondary weapon Browning M2 12.7mm.
