Description

Union cavalry in the American Civil War were equipped with weapons and uniforms similar to those of the infantry, although they often used sabers in addition to pistols and carbines.

Union cavalry participated in many renowned battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg, the Battle of Antietam, and the Battle of Chancellorsville. They also played a key role in General Sherman’s campaign in Georgia and General Sheridan’s campaign in the Shenandoah Valley.
