American Civil War

The American Civil War was a military conflict that took place in the United States between 1861 and 1865.

The conflict was fought between the northern states, known as the Union, and the southern states, known as the Confederates, and centered largely on the issue of slavery and state sovereignty.

With a death toll of more than 600,000, this war remains one of the bloodiest conflicts in U.S. history.
