Description

The “Motoscafo da Turismo Modificato” (MTM) was a fast action motorboat used by the Italians during World War II. This type of ships was the natural consequence of the policy followed by the Italian Navy after WW1. to look for fast ships that could surprise the enemy.

The MTM was a manned ship, it was loaded with explosives, the pilot would adjust course to go straight for his target and shortly before reaching it, he would jump out of the ship and let it collide with the enemy ship.

The most successful attack of this type of vessel occurred in 1941 when several of them attacked the British cruiser HMS York which was docked at the island of Crete.
