Description

The Panzer V, better known as Panther, was a German medium tank, used by the Germans during the second half of World War II.

Its development was in response to the Russian T-34 and KV-1 tanks, both of which proved to be more effective in combat than the Panzer III and Panzer IV that Germany had in 1941 and 1942. The Panther’s engine was a 700-horsepower Maybach V-12 and was armed with an excellent 75 mm KwK 42 cannon. He was also well protected and his mobility was excellent. Its weaknesses were: its mechanical complexity, its production cost and some mechanical problems of the first versions (problems that were later solved).
