Description

The Tet Offensive in Vietnam was a crucial event during the Vietnam War. It occurred in January 1968, when Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army forces launched a series of surprise attacks across the country. Although U.S. and South Vietnamese forces were initially taken by surprise, they responded quickly and managed to repel the attacks in most places, however, and although tactically a defeat for the Viet Cong and the North, the Tet Offensive marked a turning point in American public opinion and led to increased opposition to the war.
