The Italian 3Ro truck was a 5-cylinder diesel engine vehicle belonging to the Ro line of trucks (Ro – 2 cylinders and Ro-Ro – 3 cylinders). Both civilian and military versions of this vehicle were produced between 1938 and 1947.
It was the main heavy truck of the Italian Royal Army during World War II, serving in the Balkans, North Africa and the Eastern Front. About 9500 military vehicles were manufactured in many variants, such as general service cargo transport, troop transport, tank transport, horse or supply transport. Some of these trucks were equipped with 100 mm 100/17 howitzers or 90 mm 90/53 anti-aircraft guns and converted into self-propelled artillery platforms. A large number of trucks were captured by the German Wehrmacht after the Italian armistice of September 8, 1943.
