The attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, was a historic event that marked the entry of the United States into World War II. It was carried out by the Imperial Japanese Navy and resulted in devastating damage to the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet.

In a surprise action, the Japanese launched a series of air strikes against the Pearl Harbor naval base in Hawaii. This coordinated attack involved more than 350 Japanese aircraft and resulted in the destruction of numerous U.S. warships, including eight battleships and more than 200 aircraft. In addition to property losses, more than 2,400 Americans lost their lives and more than 1,000 were injured.
