The Hurricane MkI fighter was one of the Royal Air Force’s most important aircraft during World War II.
Designed by Sidney Camm, this single-seat aircraft was armed with eight machine guns and was instrumental in the Battle of Britain. Its simple and rugged design allowed it to be used also in other missions such as bomber escort, ground attack and coastal defense. Although it was surpassed by more advanced models, the Hurricane MkI is still considered an icon of British military aviation and an example of aeronautical engineering of its time.
