The Wespe (in its official designation Sd.Kfz 124), whose literal translation into English would be “wasp”, was a German self-propelled artillery vehicle of World War II.
The Wespe was a design of the Berlin-based armament company “Alkett”, which used the chassis of the Panzer II, which had become obsolete after the first campaigns of the war, was lengthened in order to put the engine in the front part and on which was mounted a cannon of the same type as the Panzer I.
