Description

The Studebaker US6 tri-axle truck was introduced by the Studebaker Corporation in 1941, and in 1943, REO Motor Car also entered production. In total, around 200,000 vehicles were produced in thirteen variants. The vehicle had a rugged design and ample cargo capacity. Its 94 hp Hercules JXD 6-cylinder engine gave the Studebaker US6 excellent off-road performance.

Most of these trucks were employed by U.S. allies, although a significant number were also used by the U.S. military. For example, Studebaker US6s were employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, especially during the construction of the Alaska Highway. A small number of these trucks were destined for the U.S. Army in Europe as part of the so-called reverse lend-lease, when certain equipment transferred to the Allies was returned to the U.S. for various reasons. There are also cases of Studebaker US6 being used by the US armed forces in the Far East.
