Description
Michael Wittman was a German tank commander in the Waffen SS during World War II. Wittman, who was nicknamed the “Black Baron”, is considered one of the great aces in the use of the Panzer weapon, his unit is credited with the destruction of more than 140 enemy tanks and a very similar number of anti-tank guns, as well as a large number of other armored vehicles.
Wittman was killed in action during the Battle of Normandy on August 8, 1944, when he was 30 years old and held the rank of SS Captain.
