The M24 Chaffee was a U.S. light tank introduced at the end of World War II to replace the M5 Stuart. Designed with increased firepower and better protection, it incorporated a 75 mm gun, a marked improvement over the previous armament. Its mobility, mechanical reliability and speed made it ideal for reconnaissance and infantry support missions. Although it arrived late in World War II, it played a prominent role in the Korean War and was exported to many countries. Its balanced design between power, speed and size made it a vehicle highly valued by its crews.
