The M48A1 is a variant of the M48 Patton main battle tank, developed by the United States during the Cold War. It was designed to replace the M47 and improve its capabilities. The M48A1 incorporated a redesigned turret and a more efficient manual loading system, in addition to a 90 mm gun and improved commander’s vision systems. Although it initially had reliability problems, it was widely used by the U.S. Army and its allies.
