The PM-1/II was a prototype flamethrower tank developed during World War II by the Soviet Union. Designed to provide support for assault operations and break through fortified positions, the PM-1/II was part of a series of experimental vehicles that sought to integrate flamethrowers into armored platforms. The vehicle was based on a modified light tank chassis, which gave it sufficient mobility on the battlefield, and was equipped with a turret-mounted flamethrower. This flamethrower had an effective range of approximately 100 meters, making it useful for close-range operations, especially in urban or bunker environments. The PM-1/II did not make it past the prototype stage due to problems with the reliability of the flamethrower system and the vulnerability of the tank in combat. Despite its potential, the Soviet Union decided not to continue with its serial production, focusing instead on more conventional vehicles and more effective weapons for infantry support.
