New Brand at Jordi Rubio The T-54 and T-55 tanks are a series of Soviet main battle tanks introduced after World War II.
The prototype of the T-54 was completed in 1945, and from the late 1950s it became the main tank of the armored units of the Soviet Army and Warsaw Pact countries.
These models participated in numerous global armed conflicts during the second half of the 20th century.
With an estimated production of between 96,500 and 100,000 units, the T-54/55 series is the most manufactured in history.
Although they were replaced in the USSR by more advanced tanks such as the T-62 and T-72, they are still in service in about 50 armies, many with significant modernizations.
The appearance of the T-54 in the West motivated countries such as the UK and the US to develop new weapons and tanks, such as the L7 gun and the M60 Patton.
These tanks had several upgraded versions, including the T-54-2, T-54-3 and T-54A, which integrated new technologies such as night vision systems and stabilizers to improve their combat performance. Characteristics of the model:
