Description

The Ferdinand was a World War II German heavy tank destroyer, designed by the German company Porsche and built by Ferdinand Porsche.

The Ferdinand was armed with an 88 mm PaK 43/2 L/71 PaK 43/2 L/71 cannon capable of penetrating enemy tank armor at long range. Its frontal armor was exceptionally thick and tough(200 mm), making it virtually invulnerable to Allied tank attacks. However, the initial design did not contemplate the need to arm it with a light machine gun to defend against infantry attacks, which made it less effective during the battle of Kursk.
