The modern passenger car with self-supporting Kapitän body was the middle model in Opel’s pre-war model range. 25,370 automobiles were manufactured from 1938 to 1940. At the beginning of the war, most of the cars were requisitioned and used as personal transportation for Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe officers. These vehicles were used on both the western and eastern fronts until the end of World War II.
Kapitän cars were produced in different variants, and in particular, 3,422 vehicles featured closed 2-door saloon bodies.
