The Yak 9D was a Soviet-made single-seat fighter aircraft used by the Red Army during World War II.
The first Yak-9 was distributed to frontline units in the autumn of 1942 and had its baptism of fire in the winter of the same year at the end of 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad.
The 9D version was the long-range escort version, with a range of almost 1,400 km (due to an additional fuel tank and engine improvements). This version was operational from the summer of 1943.
