The Sukhoi Su-25, nicknamed “Frogfoot” by NATO, is a ground attack aircraft developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s.
Designed to provide close support to ground forces, its robust structure and ability to operate in adverse conditions have made it a mainstay in numerous conflicts.
It entered service in 1981 and has since proven its effectiveness in scenarios such as the war in Afghanistan, conflicts in the Caucasus and various operations in the Middle East.
The Su-25 stands out for its heavy armor, which protects the pilot and the aircraft’s critical systems, as well as for its ability to carry a wide variety of weaponry, from bombs to guided missiles.
It has been modernized in versions such as the Su-25SM, with improvements in avionics and precision.
Throughout its history, it has been operated by more than 20 countries, establishing itself as a reliable and feared platform on the battlefield.
