The Vietnam People’s Army
(NVA), also known as the North Vietnamese Army, was the regular military force of the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam).
Formed in 1944, it played a crucial role in the Indochina War against France and later in the Vietnam War (1955-1975) against the United States and South Vietnam.
Its strategy was based on guerrilla tactics and conventional warfare, backed by supplies from the Soviet Union and China.
After the fall of Saigon in 1975, the NVA ensured the reunification of Vietnam under a communist government.
