Self-propelled USA M40 155mm. Tamiya-35351

Description

This Tamiya model kit reproduces, in 1/35 scale, the impressive WWII M40 self-propelled gun with 155mm M2 cannon.

The M40 was designed on the chassis of a Sherman M4A3, carrying a Wright R975 engine, which had been originally developed by Continental to be mounted on airplanes. It had 12 mm armor, a weight of 36 tons and its maximum road speed was 38 km/h .

The M40 did not enter production until January 1945 and only a few hundred units were deployed in Europe to fight the last Nazi strongholds. It entered service in the capture of Cologne (during WWII) and then continued in service during the Korean War.
