The self-propelled anti-tank cannon Sd. Kfz. 164 “Hornisse” (hornet)which would later be known by the nickname Nashorn (rhinoceros), used components from the Panzer III and IV chassis on which the 88mm Pak 43/1 gun was mounted.
His combat debut took place at Kursk and he continued in service until the end of the war on the Eastern front and also to a lesser extent in Italy.
