Partisan hunters in Yugoslavia. 1943 Dragon-6491

12.90

In 1943, during World War II, Axis forces, particularly the Germans, organized campaigns against the partisans in Yugoslavia, who represented a strong resistance. The partisans, led by Josip Broz Tito, carried out guerrilla tactics, defying Nazi and allied control. The so-called “partisan hunters” were military units specialized in combating this resistance, composed of German soldiers, local collaborationists and, on occasion, Italian fascist elements. Yugoslavia’s mountainous and forested terrain made fighting difficult, forcing the partisan hunters to employ tracking and ambush operations to locate and eliminate Tito’s forces. The most notorious operations included the Kozara offensive and the Battle of the Sutjeska, where the partisans faced heavy losses, but managed to survive and continue fighting.
