Description

Tamiya is back with a new and excellent version of the Panzer IV, this time it is the G variant in its initial production run.

The Panzer IV was the only German tank of World War II that remained in production throughout the war, it began its career armed with a 75 mm short gun (KwK 37 L24), its design was intended to act as an assault vehicle with low velocity projectiles but high explosive power, which made it very efficient against enemy fortified positions. Meanwhile the Panzer III was the vehicle that had to fight against enemy tanks.

As the war progressed, especially after the first campaigns in Russia, it was demonstrated that the 37 or 50 mm gun of the Panzer III was no match for some tanks of the Red Army, so it was necessary to increase the caliber of his weapon, the problem was that larger guns needed larger turrets and the design of the Panzer III did not allow to increase the size of the turret. The solution to this problem was provided by the Panzer IV starting with its F2 variant.

The Panzer IV Ausf G was armed with a 75mm Kwk 40 L43 cannon and an additional 30mm armor had been added. It was in production between 1942 and 1943 and 1,700 examples were built of this version.

The kit includes 4 figures.
