The Soviet 203 mm howitzer B-4 model 1931 was one of the most powerful artillery pieces employed by the Red Army during World War II. Designed in the 1930s, this heavy howitzer was used primarily for the destruction of enemy fortifications and defensive positions, as well as in city assaults. The B-4 had an effective range of approximately 18 km and fired high-explosive shells weighing over 100 kg, earning it the nickname “Stalin’s Hammer” among the troops. This howitzer played a key role in several major battles, such as the Siege of Leningrad and the Battle of Berlin, where its firepower proved devastating against bunkers and fortified structures. Despite its slowness and size, its destructive capability made it a weapon feared by Axis forces. After the war, the B-4 continued in service, although it was gradually replaced by more modern artillery.
