Concrete anti-tank obstacles, known as “dragon’s teeth”, were first used during World War II, probably originating in Finland as a defense against Red Army armored vehicles. Their function was to stop the advance of tanks and to channel their movement into areas vulnerable to attack. They were used by all sides, even by neutral countries such as Switzerland, where they were known as “Toblerone” fortifications because of their shape similar to the famous chocolate. Today, they are still in use as defensive barriers, and in Ukraine they have been installed in different regions as a preventive measure against possible threats.
