The Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), also known as the North Vietnamese regular army, was the main armed force of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Highly disciplined and well organized, the EPN was supported by the Soviet Union and China, receiving weaponry, training and strategic advice. This army combined conventional and guerrilla tactics, standing out for its ability to operate in adverse conditions and its determination. It participated in major offensives such as the Tet Offensive (1968) and in the encirclement of bases such as Khe Sanh. Its professional structure, together with the support of the Vietcong, was key to the victory in 1975 and the reunification of Vietnam.
