The Mitsubishi A6m Zero was an embarked fighter used by the Japanese during the war in the Pacific (World War II). Numerous variants of this fighter were produced by Japan during the war, the Model 52 was designed to compete with the P-38 Lightning and the F4U Corsair.
The Model 52 was developed with shorter, rounded wings, which, together with individual exhaust pipes, allowed it to reach speeds of up to 565 km/h (194 mph).
The Model 52 was in service in several of the great Pacific battles: in the Solomon Islands, the Marianas, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and defending the skies over Japan until its surrender in August 1945.
