The Wehrmacht officer corps was noted for its high standards. At the beginning of World War II, it represented a unique and closed organization, with its own conceptions of officers’ honor and moral principles. Many of them were former officers of the Imperial German Army. Staff officers played a crucial role in the Wehrmacht, receiving special attention and occupying key roles in directing operations at all stages of the conflict. A diverse fleet of vehicles was used to transport these officers, including the versatile G4 (W31) four-door SUV sedan. Developed by Daimler-Benz in 1934, it was produced until 1939 in a four-door convertible roof version. This vehicle was equipped with an 8-cylinder engine, with an initial power output of 100 hp, which was later increased to 110 hp in the later models, and had a capacity for six passengers. Some of these vehicles were armed with one or two MG 34 machine guns. Their main function was the transport of Wehrmacht command personnel, although they were also used for the protection and escort of columns of personnel.
