The MG34 and MG42 were two of the main machine guns used by the Wehrmacht during World War II.
The MG34, supplied from 1936, had a rate of fire of up to 900 rounds per minute, while the MG42, designed for more mass production and employed from 1942, exceeded this figure with 1,200 rounds per minute.
Both weapons were often used on two-legged mounts, but when mounted on the Lafette tripod, equipped with an optical sight, their effectiveness increased considerably, making them even more fearsome weapons on the battlefield.
These machine guns were valued for their reliability and rate of fire, allowing them to be used in both defensive and offensive roles.
The combination of high rate of fire and versatility made them key parts of the German arsenal during the conflict, used on virtually every front of the war.
