The origin of this vehicle takes place in 1941, when the army asked the Willys, Ford and Bantam companies to build a prototype of a small, 4-wheeled vehicle that could fulfill various logistical functions: personnel transport, medical transport, etc. …. It was finally the Willys Company that obtained the license to build the vehicle en masse.

Production of this iconic vehicle reached 640,000 units in 1945.
