In conjunction with the formation of the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was organized. Initially the IDF consisted almost exclusively of infantry units, but it soon became necessary to augment its arsenal with tanks. The tank chosen to equip his army was the American M4 Sherman, a reliable medium tank that had been mass-produced during WWII and was therefore relatively easy to acquire.
The IDF designed the M50 as a variant of the M4A1 and M4A3 and modified them by adding the powerful CN-75-50 75 mm gun from the French AMX-13 light tank. Following the Suez Canal crises and the Arab countries bordering Israel buying IS-III and T54/55 tanks from the USSR, the IDF decided to develop the M51 with the 105 mm D1508 L/51 gun. The M50 and M51 were active in the 6-Day War and the Yom Kippur War.

Muy buena maqueta de este cacharro, le doy 4/ por las orugas, a estas alturas del siglo las orugas de vinilo aunque sean pegables se quedan un poco obsoletas.
