Description
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was a fighter-bomber, or ground attack aircraft, used by the Soviet Union during World War II.
It was the main aircraft of this type built by the Soviets during the war, with almost 36,000 examples produced. Initially this aircraft was built with a single seat but the severe restrictions of the aircraft led the Red Army to add an extra seat for a gunner to protect the rear of the aircraft.
