Description

The battle for the Kursk salient took place during the summer of 1943 and was the last major offensive the Germans attempted in Eastern Europe, and is also the largest tank battle the world has ever seen in history.

Near the city of Kursk the Russian troops had advanced their positions by drawing a salient in the front line, the German plan was to cut this salient and pocket the Russian armies.

the battle lasted a month and a half and was largely the destruction of the offensive capability of the German panzer armies.
