The S-35 was a medium tank of the French armed forces during World War II.
The company that manufactured the S-35 was Somua, a subsidiary of Schneider. In May 1940, when the Werhmacht invaded France, the S-35 was considered the best French tank at the time, in fact, in many ways it was superior to the medium tanks available to Germany at the time. However, the lack of radio, the tactical disposition used by the French and the inexperience of the crews ended up making the S-35 a rather flimsy tank.
