Focke-Wulf Fw190 D-9 Tamiya-61041

Description

After the successful development of the first FW190 series, the German High Command requested the development of a fighter that would maintain the good characteristics of the FW190 but could also operate at high altitude. Three projects were initiated in response to this request, one of which resulted in the FW 190 D.
The Focke Wulf 190D was built following the structure of the FW190A whose fuselage had been lengthened (hence the nickname “Langnasen”, big nose) in order to install the 12-cylinder V-engine Jumo 213, which significantly increased both its maximum operational speed (which increased to 687 km/h) and its flight ceiling (which reached 12,000 meters). The FW190 D-9 entered production in June 1944.
