Few aircraft are as impressive, robust and versatile as the Focke Wulf FW190A. This aircraft, designed by the brilliant engineer Kurt Tank, was equipped with a BMW801 radial engine that was continuously overhauled and improved from the aircraft’s first combat in 1941 until the end of the war.
The A8 version was introduced in the spring of 1944, armed with four 20mm MG151/20R guns and two 13mm MG31 machine guns. One version of the A8 was the A8/R2 which was designed as an interception fighter and for that purpose its 20 mm cannons were replaced by 20 mm cannons. more powerful 30 mm MK 108 cannonsIn addition, the armor of the cockpit glass was improved to provide better defense against possible hits by the B-17 and B-24 heavy bombers that ravaged Germany.
