Description

The MiG-17F, a variant of the MiG-17, is a jet fighter developed by the Soviet Union in the 1950s. Introduced in 1952, the MiG-17F was a significant improvement over its predecessor, the MiG-15. Equipped with a more powerful VK-1F engine and capable of supersonic dive speeds, it was noted for its maneuverability and high-speed combat capability.

The Polish version, known as Lim-5, was manufactured under license in Poland starting in 1956. The Lim-5 maintained the characteristics of the MiG-17F, being widely used in the Polish Air Force and exported to several countries (such as Angola or Cuba).

The MiG-17F/Lim-5 participated in numerous conflicts, most notably in the Vietnam War, where it proved to be a formidable adversary against U.S. aircraft.
