The Macchi M.C. 202 Folgore was an Italian fighter aircraft of World War II. Designed by Mario Castoldi, it stood out for its speed and maneuverability. It was powered by a V12 engine and had a top speed of around 590 km/h (390 mph). Its aerodynamic design and armament – it was equipped with two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns in the nose of the aircraft – made it a fearsome opponent that proved to be very effective in aerial combat.
Its legacy lives on as a symbol of the Italian aircraft industry and its contribution during the conflict.
