The German PaK 36/37 anti-tank gun crew usually consisted of a team of five to six soldiers trained to operate this weapon effectively. The PaK 36, a 37 mm gun introduced in 1936, was designed to destroy light armored vehicles. Roles in the crew included a gunner, in charge of aiming and firing, a loader, who inserted shells, and several assistants who carried ammunition and helped reposition the gun in combat. During the early stages of World War II, the PaK 36 was effective, but became obsolete in the face of more advanced tanks, leading to its gradual replacement by larger caliber guns.
