Description

The destroyer USS Fletcher (DD-445) left its mark on naval history. Commissioned in 1942 during World War II, he proved his worth in crucial engagements. Equipped with torpedoes and anti-aircraft guns, she participated in operations in the Pacific, including the Battle of Guadalcanal and Leyte Gulf where she demonstrated her endurance and maneuverability, which allowed her to survive intense engagements. It also played a key role in escorting aircraft carriers and troop transports.
