In the full-scale war that began in February 2022, Ukraine’s Land Forces took on much of the effort, especially mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain, tank and artillery brigades. Ukrainian Air Assault brigades and Ukrainian Marines play a prominent role, carrying out missions in particularly complex combat areas. Infantry units of the Ukrainian forces are armed with a combination of domestic and Soviet-made weapons, such as “Stugna” anti-tank missiles and “Fort” series guns. In addition, weapons such as the “Maluk” rifle and equipment provided by international assistance strengthen their defensive and operational capabilities at the front.
