Soyuz-2 is a series of space launchers developed in Russia as an evolution of the historic Soyuz rocket family. Introduced in the 2000s, Soyuz-2 incorporates significant technological improvements, such as more advanced navigation and control systems, optimized engines and a higher payload capacity compared to its predecessors. The basic version, Soyuz-2.1a, uses a digital flight control system, allowing for greater precision in orbital insertion. Subsequently, Soyuz-2.1b added an RD-0124 engine in the third stage, increasing its efficiency and range. In addition, Soyuz-2.1v, a lighter variant, was designed without the characteristic side thrusters. These rockets are used to carry commercial satellites, scientific payloads and modules to the International Space Station (ISS). With proven reliability and multi-mission capability, the Soyuz-2 remains a mainstay of the Russian aerospace industry.
