The PZL P.11c was a fighter aircraft, an improved variant of the P.11a version, which was a development of the P.6 construction by inż Z. Puławski under the supervision of inż. Wsiewołod Jakimiuk.
This improved version of the fighter, with a redesigned hull and tail, and a Bristol Mercury V engine, plus the possibility of placing the armament inside the wing. The engine cover was lowered to improve the pilot’s field of vision.
175 of these aircraft were ordered by the Polish Air Force and construction began in 1934. Most of the order was delivered in 1935, the last planes were completed in 1936.
PZL P.11c aircraft entered service with Polish Air Force fighter squadrons in 1935 and were their most valuable equipment during the Polish Campaign of 1939. These aircraft served in the 1st Air Regiment (AR) in Warsaw, the 2nd AR in Krakow, the 3rd AR in Poznan, the 4th AR in Torun, the 5th AR in Lida and the 6th AR in Lwów, and participated in the Polish Campaign from its start on September 1, 1939 until the forced evacuation by the Soviet attack on September 17.
