The catapult devised by Leonardo da Vinci is a reinterpretation of a medieval weapon, improved by his genius. Folio 140a/br of the Codex Atlanticus shows six spoon-shaped catapult designs. It uses large flexible wooden arms that accumulate energy when charged. When the mechanism is released, the projectile is launched with great force, reaching long distances.
